Short Film Competition


For the first time, the festival will feature a short film competition. Two programs explore powerful human stories shaped by war, displacement, and loss, while also reflecting on identity and decolonial perspectives. Each program promises an emotional and unforgettable journey through the world of short films.

  • Mariette Rissenbeek

    After many years of working first in film distribution and then as a producer for TV and cinema films, Mariëtte Rissenbeek has been working at German Films since 2002 on the international marketing of German films abroad and has built up a worldwide network of festivals, distributors and production companies. From 2020 to 2024 she headed the Berlinale and is now working again as a producer.


  • Isabel Stever

    Isabel studied directing at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin. Her films, such as First Marriage (2002), Gisela (2005), The Weather Inside (2016), and Grand Jeté (2022), gained international attention and received multiple awards both domestically and abroad. Isabelle Stever works as a director, screenwriter, and freelance lecturer at the DFFB and the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg.

  • Roman Bondarchuk

    Ukrainian filmmaker, known for his award-winning documentaries and feature films. Roman also serves as the artistic director of the International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, Docudays UA. His first feature-length documentary, Ukrainian Sheriffs (2015), earned an Oscar nomination for Ukraine. His film “Volcano” premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and was featured in over 50 festivals, winning more than a dozen awards. His last film “The Editorial Office” was premiered at the Berlinale 2024 and is currently screened in the main program of UFFB.

  • Robert Wunsch

    Before Robert came to Babelsberg to study at the HFF "Konrad Wolff", he completed an apprenticeship as a merchant for audiovisual media at Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk in Leipzig. As a student, Robert continued to work as a freelance photographer, production driver and production manager for RBB. After graduating, he moved back to Leipzig. There he worked as a production manager for TV stations and various production companies, where he realized fictional and documentary productions. Since 2019, he has headed the Leipzig branch of D-Facto Motion GmbH and is responsible for the post-production of numerous national and international cinema, VOD and TV feature films.
