The Kherson Museum of Local Lore, which was looted by Russian occupation troops between October 24 and 26, 2022, once housed the largest and oldest collection of antiquities in southern Ukraine. Two weeks before the liberation of Kherson by the Ukrainians, Russian occupation troops carried out a strategic robbery in which the collection was stolen from the museum. The sound of shells and missiles was recorded during the shooting on December 12 in the museum, which is less than two kilometers from the Russian-occupied area.
