Ukrainian New Wave: Before the Sunrise

The Dovzhenko Centre, a prominent cultural institution and the National Ukrainian Film Archive, presents the latest edition of their almanac, “Ukrainian New Wave.” This year’s compilation, titled “Before the Sunrise,” captures the social atmosphere of Ukraine through the lens of talented cinematographers.

“Ukrainian New Wave. Before the Sunrise” encapsulates the initial year of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, offering poignant reflections on the current state of the nation and presenting futuristic visions of Mariupol.

The screening was followed by a Q&A with Mila Zhluktenko and Daniel Asadi Faezi, directors of the film Waking up in Silence, and Maria Glazunova, an expert from the Dovzhenko Centre. All films were shown in the original language with German subtitles.
