Synopsis
1980, USSR. Crimean Tatar activist Mustafa Dzhemilev is exiled to a Siberian village to work at an oxygen station; three people set out across the country—one to meet him, one to destroy him, one to protect him.
A poetic, true-story drama about resistance, love and freedom. After a 303-day hunger strike, Mustafa Dzhemilev is banished to Zyryanka, where routine and surveillance rule. As a zealous prosecutor seeks to crush him, Safinar—a young Crimean Tatar woman who knows him only through letters—travels to meet him, and a third figure enters with dangerous intent.
